They will be ultra-thin, just like an ultrabook a MacBook Air.
People familiar with Apple’s roadmap say the company plans to update its MacBook Pro machine, giving it the same design traits and appearance of the MacBook Air, according to AppleInsider. This means dropping the optical disc drive, the HDD and making them very very slim.
“They’re all going to look like MacBook Airs,” one person familiar with the new MacBook Pro designs told AppleInsider. Meanwhile, existing MacBook Pro designs are expected to be phased out over the course of the year. At least now we know why they needed all those parts they bought last year.
It’s interesting how exactly Apple will manage to do that. Unless there’s a major technological breakthrough with the Ivy Bridge chips, the new Pros will be significantly weaker than their current variants. This practically blurs the line between a Pro and an Air.
